Covid's CPI approved this Wednesday (23) the call of representatives from Google, Twitter and Facebook. The purpose of the commission is to question the reason why companies do not take off the air content considered contrary to scientific evidence and sanitary measures released by President Jair Bolsonaro.
The call requests were announced by the commission's vice president, senator Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede-AP), last Friday (18th). Now the commission has ratified the measure.
The day before, Bolsonaro stated, during a live internet broadcast , that the coronavirus contamination could be “more effective” than the vaccination itself. So far, Brazil has registered more than 18 million people infected and more than 502,000 killed by Covid.
"The President of the Republic has the right to speak the nonsense he wants, he just doesn't have the right to produce an increase in these numbers here, to increasingly disseminate news without backing to science that produce an increase in these numbers", said Randolfe in occasion.
“For much less, Twitter and Facebook banned Mr. Donald Trump”, reinforced the senator.
deleted users
Also on Wednesday, a request was approved for Twitter to send the CPI information about the accounts of users excluded from June this year.
Senators want to obtain a list of all accounts that were deleted, as well as the respective data used for registration and the reason for the deletion.
They were also asked to preserve all content available in each account – even those eventually deleted – and a complete history of logins, with details of the time and IP addresses.
