Basic basket rises up to 30% in 12 months, Dieese shows

THE HIGHEST INCREASE WAS REGISTERED IN CAMPO GRANDE; IN APRIL, BASKET ROSE IN THE 18 CITIES SURVEYED, FOR THE SECOND MONTH IN A ROW.

The set of basic basket items rose in all 18 cities surveyed by the Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies (Dieese) in April. It was the second consecutive month of highs in all locations. The highest increases were registered in Campo Grande (10.07%), São Luis (7.10%) and Aracaju (4.94%).

In the accumulated in 12 months, the cumulative increase already reaches 30.17% in Campo Grande. In Recife, the basic basket rose 25.19% since May 2018; and in João Pessoa, 22.78%. The lowest cumulative rate was recorded in Florianópolis, 13.02%.

Despite the less expressive increases in the month (2.54%) and accumulated in 12 months (20.07%), the basic basket of São Paulo continues as the most expensive among the researched places, to R $ 522.05. Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre appear just below in the ranking, with baskets at R $ 515.58 and R $ 499.38, respectively.
