Alleged espionage case in Paraná

 

 

Ratinho Junior says he knows, but does not know who appointed the Moroccan intelligence director of the General Comptroller of the State of Paraná

MEHDI MOUAZEN, NATURALIZED BRAZILIAN IN 2020, IS MENTIONED IN A REQUEST FOR ACTION SENT TO THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE BY DEPUTY REQUIÃO FILHO (PT). GOVERNMENT OF PARANÁ STATED THAT IT WILL OPEN AN INVESTIGATION.

The governor of Paraná  Ratinho Junior  ( PSD ) said, this Friday (27), that he knows the Moroccan Mehdi Mouazen, director of Intelligence at the State Comptroller General (CGE), but claims that he does not know who appointed him.

Mouazen's name came to light after state deputy Requião Filho ( PT ) sent a request for an explanation to the Ministry of Justice and the state Executive requesting explanations about the creation of the CGE Intelligence directorate and Mouazen's decision to manage the body .

Requião Filho wants to know, among other matters, the criteria used to hire the director and what specific powers are directed to him.

The questions arise after the hiring, by the Government of Paraná, of a company providing a telephone interception system became public.

 

“Look, you have to ask our secretary, general controller of the state, Luciana. They have more than 120 professionals who work there and they are people who obviously have the technical quality to respond to each position. More importantly, Paraná today has the diamond seal. The only state in Brazil with public transparency, in line with the work of the State Comptroller General itself, and the idea is that we continue to increasingly strengthen our inspection record,” stated the governor of Paraná.

 

SOFTWARE USED BY THE BOARD IS THE TARGET OF INVESTIGATION

In the request for information sent to the Government of Paraná and the Ministry of Justice, deputy Requião Filho asked a series of questions about hiring the same company that supplied the system used by the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin).

Requião Filho demands from the Government of Paraná information about the systems used for scanning, detection, selective blocking, real-time location, remote and instant extraction of cell phone content in the state.

"We want to know if this program, if this espionage structure, was used against politicians, judges, journalists and lawyers, because, given the deadline, this entire apparatus could have even been used in the electoral campaign, because if it had been in the Security Secretariat of the state, being used by the police is one thing, but creating an intelligence sector of the Comptroller's Office, linked to the governor's office, makes us very strange", says the deputy.

 

In Paraná, the system from the Israeli company Cognyte was acquired in 2019 by the Civil Police.
