Actress Angelina Jolie denounces that Gaza is a common source and world leaders are complicit
International Editor (EFE).- American actress Angelina Jolie, defender of several humanitarian causes, said this July that Gaza is becoming a “common fossa” and accused world leaders of complicity for not acting to impose a high fire in the war between Israel and Hamas.
“This is the deliberate bombing of a trapped population that has nowhere to go. Gaza has been a free air prison for several decades and is quickly becoming a common famine,” Jolie wrote in a message on Instagram.
Jolie highlighted that “enteric families are being murdered” and 40% of victims are children.
“As the world watches and with the active support of many governments, millions of Palestinian civilians (children, women, families) are being collectively punished and dehumanized, while they are deprived of food, medicine and humanitarian aid contravening the international right”, he added .
The actress said that “by refusing to demand a high humanitarian fire and preventing the UN Security Council from imposing it on both parties, world leaders are complicit in these crimes”.
Hamas attack on October 7th
Following the attack perpetrated by Hamas on October 7 on Israeli territory, which caused some 1,400 deaths, Israel declared war on the Islamic movement that controls Gaza and that Palestinian enclave, where more than 9,000 people died due to Israeli military actions.
Angelina Jolie, Buena Voluntad Ambassador
In August 2003, Jolie, who among other awards had an Oscar for best actress in Reparto (1999), was named Ambassador of the Good Will of the High Commissioner for United Nations for Refugees (UNHCR), for her commitment and humanitarian work.
As an ambassador, she has visited more than 40 crisis areas, including Libya, Bosnia, Haiti, Congo, Syria and Iraq, and has particularly denounced sexual violence against women in wars.
