The Acting Minister of Justice and Public Security, Ricardo Cappelli (photo), said this Thursday (4), in Brasilia, that the alleged plan to assassinate Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) , is extremely serious and unacceptable. and that investigations must go as far as “ultimate consequences” to punish those responsible.
Alexandre de Moraes revealed, in an interview with the newspaper O Globo , that the investigations into the coups of January 8, 2023 revealed the preparation of plans for the arrest and assassination of the magistrate, including with the participation of the Brazilian intelligence agency (Abin).
According to the STF minister, there were three plans to arrest and kill him, one of which was to hang him in Praça dos Três Poderes, in Brasilia.

In a conversation with journalists this Thursday (4), Cappelli said that the existence of this alleged plan reveals the seriousness of what is happening in Brazil. “It is extremely serious and unacceptable to consider an attempt on the life of a minister of the Supreme Court of Brazil,” he said.
The Acting Minister of Justice added that this information will be investigated and carried out to the end to uncover the perpetrators of the alleged plan to arrest and assassinate the STF Minister.
“The project against Minister Alexandre de Moraes outrages all democrats. We will do everything possible to identify and punish all those responsible. [They] will settle their scores with justice and with history,” Cappelli said on a social network.
On January 8, 2023, supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro, unhappy with the outcome of the 2022 presidential election, invaded the headquarters of the Three Powers in Brasilia, calling for a military coup in Brazil. Minister Alexandre de Moraes was one of the main targets of the putschist protests which began after the second round of the October 2022 elections.
