Drivers and collectors in Curitiba approved, this Tuesday (7), a strike indicative from Friday (10) for an indefinite period. According to the Union of Drivers and Collectors of Curitiba and Region (Sindimoc), the category has late November salaries and is waiting for a solution from the companies.

Emergency assistance of R$ 500 million only for bus companies in Curitiba
According to estimates by the opposition bench in the Curitiba parliament, the Curitiba Urbanization Fund (FUC) has collected R$ 288.5 million since the beginning of the pandemic.
If the subsidy to public transport entrepreneurs continues at R$38 million, with R$20 million coming from paid tickets and another R$18 million from the city hall, emergency aid of R$500 million is projected until February 2022.
Curitiba councilors approve new bus system aid regime in 2nd round
On Wednesday, September 29, 2021, the councilors of the Curitiba City Council approved, by 21 to 13 votes, in the second round, the creation of the New Emergency Regime for Collective Transport.
As the Diário do Transporte had shown , in the first round, by 23 votes to 11, the continuation of assistance to the bus system in the capital of Paraná had already been approved.

In practice, the new regime is very similar to what councilors approved in 2020, but even more advantageous for bus companies.
Among the benefits to operators are:
– Even with the subsidies, the buses will be able to fire their employees without just cause (in the previous version, it was forbidden to fire);
– Financial transfers can be made to bus companies until February 28, 2022;
– The Urbanization Fund will be able to pay installments of financing for buses purchased by the buses;
– Bus companies will not be required to put 100% of their fleet into operation.
To enter into force, the project must be sanctioned by Mayor Rafael Greca, which is certain, since the proposal is made by the executive in Curitiba.
In the message to councilors, Mayor Rafael Greca says that despite the resumption of economic activities, the number of users is still 40% lower than what was registered before the pandemic.
In its normal operation (business days), the System transported around 1,200,000 passengers daily, of which around 650,000 are paying passengers, and the vehicles travel around 260,000 kilometers per day. Since the beginning of the pandemic and the consequent adoption of restrictive measures to prevent and fight the disease, the System has transported an average of 160,000 passengers, of which around 140,000 are paying passengers. Currently, the system has been experiencing a relative increase in the number of passengers. Data from 09/13/2021 show that the Collective Transport System of Curitiba transported an average of 438,933 passengers, representing a drop of 40.25%, an average still well below what was seen in a pre-pandemic situation.
The current regime was approved by the House in 2020, which ran until June 30, 2021, undergoing extensions.
