Curitiba if "intelligent" life existed
Bus ticket price in Araucária drops to R$ 1.00 reais
The City of Araucária, metropolitan region of Curitiba, announced yet another reduction in the value of bus fares for next Monday (13th) when the value will be reduced to just R$ 1. Mayor Hissam Hussein Dehaini signed this Wednesday (08), the decree that establishes the new tariff. Decree nº 40.021/2023 was published in the Official Gazette of the Municipality this Thursday (09).
Until 2017, the TRIAR tariff followed the metropolitan tariff. In January 2018, the first fare reduction occurred: from R$4.25 (equal to the metropolitan fare at the time) to R$2.90. Subsequently, the fare was reduced to R$2.65 (April 2019), R$2.40 (November 2019), R$2.20 (January 2021), R$1.95 (September 2021) , R$ 1.70 (December 2021), R$ 1.50 (April 2022), 1.25 (March 2023) and now it reaches just R$ 1. If you were following the metropolitan fare, the value of TRIAR tariff would currently be R$5.50.
For City Hall, the sequence of reductions makes public transport an "indispensable route of access to fundamental citizen rights such as health, education, professional qualifications, leisure and culture". It is important to remember that when joining a TRIAR line, the user can still join buses from metropolitan lines at both terminals in the city for free. "Point-to-Point Integration" is another free benefit, as, through the TRIAR card, the user can change TRIAR lines (disembark and board at points) up to 2 times (without repeating the line) throughout of one hour without paying a new fee. TRIAR vehicles are new and have an internet signal available free of charge to users.

FREE – The municipality went beyond the sequence of reductions in public transport fares. Around 1/3 of TRIAR users receive some type of free transport. Among the wide list of situations covered, it is worth highlighting the incentive to education and qualification. There is free transportation for all students from public institutions (kindergarten to high school, including EJA and Ceebja classes) and also for parents/guardians to pick up and drop off these students (up to 12 years old).
University students from public institutions (or who are beneficiaries of scholarships, such as PROUNI, FIES and SISU), people enrolled in professional courses from the Department of Labor and Employment are also entitled to free tuition. The benefit also extends to the public attending courses/activities linked to the Departments of Culture and Tourism, Sports and Leisure and Social Assistance. On Sundays, all public transport users have free access (using the TRIAR card) to travel to family, leisure or religious activities, for example.
