Copel Announces Voluntary Dismissal Plan

Company estimates up to 350 layoffs and potential cost savings of R$83 million per year

Copel announced on Wednesday (18) a new plan for voluntary layoffs that could reduce its staff by 350 people. According to the announcement made to shareholders, the reason for the plan is the sale of Copel Telecom. In the note issued to the market, the company forecasts a potential cost reduction of up to R$83 million per year.

According to the study by Copel, the indemnities to be paid to those who join the program can reach R$ 80 million. Employees who decide to join must make their choice by the 31st of this month, although the dismissals will only occur in February 2022.

As it has shares listed on the stock exchange both in Brazil and in the United States, Copel needs to publicly announce this type of decision, so that its shareholders are aware of the company's movements.
