Reviews extend to Sanepar's rotation system

Increasing the tone of the criticisms, the engineer demanded from Sanepar the lack of what he called an “environmental education campaign compatible with the level of the Covid-19 pandemic”. According to Fernando Cortes, during the water crisis in São Paulo in 2012, there was “a massacre” of information guiding the conscientious consumption of water carried out by the city hall of São Paulo. He even pointed out the rotation of water supply, a measure to be maintained by Sanepar until at least the month of October, as responsible for part of the deaths during the pandemic.

“Can you imagine a nurse who comes back from a community service and comes home and has no water. Of course this is a fortuitous case, it won't happen in everyone's house and not every day. But happens. Although Sanepar is carrying out an important program to access water tanks for those who only have a direct connection to the network, there is a huge lack of service at this point. I'll tell you the truth, the risk of contamination and of having some death due to this rotation is very high. We have to be realistic about this. I work in public health, and the most basic thing in controlling the pandemic is hygiene, distance and mask. How many agglomerations correspond to a lack of water? The risk of having some death due to this rotation is extremely high”, he stated.

Abel Demetrio responded to the criticism by noting that the provision of water and sewage was considered an essential activity during the pandemic. In what he called the “defense of all Sanepar workers”, the director stated that there was never any doubt about the need for these employees to be in charge of the work. He mentioned the delivery of 10,000 water tanks to needy families, which should take place in the next 60 days, and pointed out other activities carried out by Sanepar on a voluntary basis, such as cleaning and disinfecting hospitals and nursing homes during the pandemic.

“Sanepar took several actions of a social nature. There is a great effort by the company to ensure that at this time of pandemic combined with a water crisis. We know the hard work done daily by our employees. There is an effort by the company to provide conditions for these employees to do a proper job. It really is a very serious situation that we are going through, and we need to record all the effort that was made”, he said.

IS OUT OF WATER?

Check:

  • Are neighboring properties also without water?
  • Is your easel register open?
  • Water comes out of the first tap directly from the street, but there is no water inside the property? There may be an internal problem, such as a leak. Consult a plumber you trust. Sanepar is not authorized for internal services.
  • Is the water bill payment up to date? See here on the  website  or in the Sanepar Mobile app
  • Do you have water rotation in your street (Curitiba and RMC)? click here to check ]

If neither of these is the situation at your property, it is possible that an emergency or scheduled outage is affecting your supply. See the lists below.

If this is not the case, please contact us using the Contact Us form   here on the website.
